Bangkok is the capital of Thailand, the official name of which is Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (City of Angels) or Bangkok Metropolis has been the capital of Thailand since 1782, the year that King Rama I established himself as the first king of the Chakri Dynasty. The founding of Bangkok started, in 1782, with the construction of the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaeo). The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaeo are the landmark of Thailand, Guests or Tourists should be the first place to visit.
The Loha Prasat and Wat Ratchanadda is a Buddhist architectural structure that is superior to other exemplary forms of Thai architecture. The large construction is of seven storeys and is equipped with a spiral stair in the centre. The roof of the Prasat is decorated with thirty-seven spires in the Mondop style.
Wat Dhepthidaram. King Rama III established the temple in 1836 I honoring of Somdet Phrachao Lukthoe Krommamuen Apsorn Sudathep.
The Golden Mount Stupa or Phra Chedi Phukhao Thong or Borom Banphot. This religious monument is in the form of a golden stupa built on the top of a man-made hill seventy-six meters high.
Wat Su-That was built in the reign of King Rama I in 1807. He wanted a large temple at the heart of Bangkok as same as Sukhothai and Ayutthaya had Wat Maha That and like the one at Wat Phanan Choeng in Ayutthaya in order to contain a large sized Buddha image Phra Sri Sakayamuni was transferred to Bangkok.
Wat Ratchabophit was built by King Rama V, dedicating to monks of the Dhammayut Order. The temple is a mixture of local and western style. The exterior of the bot is in Thai style but the interior is decorated in European style.
Wat Ratchapadit. King Rama IV bought the plantation and had a small temple constructed there into a temple of Dhammayutika Nikaya, an austere order of Buddhism founded by himself. This is the first temple of Dhammayutika sect.
